On Monday evening, a Brooklyn street corner saw the shooting of an innocent 84-year-old woman who was sitting in her walker.
A stray gunshot struck the woman’s left arm as she sat on the sidewalk near the intersection of Brooklyn Avenue and Foster Avenue in East Flatbush around 6:45 p.m., according to police and sources.
We transported her to Kings County Hospital, where we expect her to survive her injuries.
According to police enforcement authorities, the shooter did not want to target the elderly.
Images from the aftermath showed the victim’s red walker on the sidewalk next to a blood-splatter stain and more than 20 shot shells scattered across the street.
The incident came after a deadly weekend as summer weather arrived in the Big Apple.
On Saturday night alone, four separate incidents resulted in the shooting of six people. Two of the victims, brothers, perished in a murder-suicide in Queens.
