On Thursday afternoon, a group of five juveniles led the authorities on a high-speed chase through the South Bay. The chase came to a halt when the car was abandoned in the middle of a street in Hawthorne, and the group fled on foot into an apartment building.
The driver led the chase through surface streets and the 110 Freeway, eventually exiting into a residential neighborhood and abandoning the vehicle.
Around 1 p.m., the Kia Soul’s driver and passengers quickly exited the vehicle near the junction of 129th Street and Jefferson Avenue and fled on foot.
As they entered the property, the Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies tailed them and established a perimeter, while a law enforcement helicopter circled above.
According to a spokesperson from the sheriff’s office, all five suspects were apprehended by 3 p.m. following a thorough search. ABC7 reported on the successful conclusion of the search.
Immediate information on the whereabouts and time of the car theft is currently unavailable.
