Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) took a decisive step on Wednesday by signing a bill that prohibits the production and sale of lab-grown meat within the state. In his passionate address, he emphasized the importance of preserving the traditional beef industry and ensuring its continued success.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis expressed his opposition to the global elite’s agenda of promoting lab-grown meat and insect consumption as a means to achieve their authoritarian objectives. In a press release on Wednesday, DeSantis emphasized his administration’s commitment to supporting local farmers and ranchers while ensuring the preservation of traditional beef production. He stated, “Today, Florida is standing up against the global elite’s plan to impose alternative food sources on the world. We will prioritize investments in our local farmers and ranchers, ensuring the preservation of our beef industry.”

The proposed legislation, S.B. 1084, declares it illegal for individuals to engage in the production, sale, possession, or distribution of lab-grown meat within the state of Florida.

According to a press release, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson (R) expressed his support for the groundbreaking legislation that bans lab-grown meat, stating that Florida is making a significant stride in the right direction.

Simpson emphasized the importance of safeguarding our farmers and preserving the authenticity of American agriculture. He strongly denounced lab-grown meat as a disrespectful endeavor that undermines our long-standing traditions and prosperous agricultural industry.

Good Meat, a company that prides itself as the pioneer in selling cultivated meat, expressed its disappointment regarding Governor DeSantis’ decision to sign a law that criminalizes the production of lab-grown meat in Florida.

Good Meat expressed their concern on the social platform X, stating that it is contradictory for a state that values freedom and individual liberty to dictate what meat consumers can or cannot buy.

In a recent post, it is stated that the new law is a setback for various groups, including Floridians who want the freedom to consume safe and approved meat of their choice, as well as the technology sector, innovators, entrepreneurs, and individuals dedicated to mitigating the severe consequences of climate change.
