Israel has decided to recall its ambassadors from Norway, Ireland, and Spain in response to the announcement made by these countries to recognize a Palestinian state. This development comes in the midst of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
During a press conference on Wednesday, Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris announced that Ireland, Norway, and Spain officially recognize the state of Palestine. He emphasized that each country will now take the necessary national measures to implement this decision.
Israel swiftly responded to the diplomatic tensions by issuing recalls for its ambassadors in Spain, Norway, and Ireland. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz also took action by summoning the ambassadors of these countries to Israel for a serious reprimand conversation. This decisive response demonstrates Israel’s commitment to addressing and resolving the issues at hand.
In a statement, Katz expressed his belief that Spain, Norway, and Ireland will be remembered in history for their decision to honor Hamas murderers and rapists with a gold medal. He strongly condemned the atrocious acts committed by these individuals, including the rape of girls and the burning of babies.
The Hamas attack on Oct. 7 resulted in the tragic loss of over 1,100 lives in Israel. Additionally, approximately 240 individuals were taken hostage and brought to Gaza by the militants. The conflict that followed in Gaza has led to the devastating death toll of over 35,000 Palestinians and the displacement of more than 1 million Palestinians from their homes.
The Palestinian bid for full U.N. membership received support from the United Nations General Assembly recently, but it faced opposition from the U.S. and eight other countries. This follows the U.S. veto of the Palestinian request to be recognized as a member state during a Security Council vote last month.
The U.S. has shown some backing for a two-state solution between Israel and Palestinians amidst the Gaza war, while Israel has voiced its opposition to the concept of an independent Palestinian state.
