Andrew Bailey, the attorney general of Missouri, has filed a lawsuit against the state of New York on grounds of election interference and wrongful prosecution. The case in question involves the Stormy Daniels hush-money trial, which resulted in the conviction of Donald Trump on 34 felony charges. Bailey’s confirmation of the lawsuit comes as a significant development in the ongoing legal battles related to the case.

Missouri Governor Mike Parson appointed Bailey, a Republican politician, last year. Bailey recently posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he plans to file a lawsuit against the State of New York for what he believes to be a direct attack on the democratic process. Specifically, he claims that New York has engaged in unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump.

In a subsequent message, he emphasized the need to resist a rogue prosecutor’s attempt to remove a presidential candidate from the campaign trail, stating that it undermines the right of Missourians to a fair and open election. It is essential to push back against such actions.

It is expected that the lawsuit will be the first in a series of similar actions taken against Letitia James, the New York attorney general, and Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan district attorney, regarding lawsuits filed against Trump or the Trump Organization and its officers. The defendants were found guilty in both cases. Trump has appealed against both rulings.

According to Bailey, the hush-money case was brought forward with the intention of tarnishing the reputation of the presumptive presidential nominee before the November elections. He further argues that the statute of limitations on falsification of business records, which is a misdemeanor, expired in 2019 in the state of New York.

In addition, he asserts that Bragg did not explicitly state any intention to commit election interference, which is a requirement for the charges to fall within the statute of limitations.

Bailey expressed to Fox News Digital on Thursday that the 2024 election is being manipulated by radical progressives in New York, and it’s necessary to resist and take action.

Bailey acknowledged that any state’s attempt to sue another would likely be taken up by the US Supreme Court. He also pointed out that the investigations and subsequent legal actions against Trump seemed to have been carried out in collaboration with the US Department of Justice.

In the upcoming month, Congress will summon Matthew Colangelo, a former federal prosecutor who relocated to New York and played a crucial role in Trump’s state and city prosecutions, to testify.

Since Trump’s 34-count criminal conviction, the aftershocks continue to reverberate. Recent reports indicate that the presumptive Republican presidential candidate has surpassed his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, in fundraising since the verdict in May.
