President Biden recently addressed the conviction of former President Donald Trump in a case involving a “hush money” payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels. He emphasized the importance of upholding the American principle that no one is above the law.
During a speech at the White House on Friday, Mr. Biden expressed his disapproval of his 2024 opponent’s reaction to the guilty verdict. Trump has asserted that the trial was “very unfair” and “rigged.”

The New York jury delivered its verdict on Thursday, concluding that Trump had unlawfully manipulated business records to hide a $130,000 payment made just before the 2016 election to silence Daniels regarding their alleged sexual encounter. Trump, however, has consistently denied any involvement with Daniels. The jury found him guilty on 34 felony charges.
According to Mr. Biden, the charges are state charges rather than federal charges. This clarification comes in response to false accusations made by Trump and his allies, who have claimed that he and the Justice Department were involved in organizing the trial.
Mr. Biden emphasized the importance of granting everyone the opportunity to appeal the decision, just as he should be given that chance.
