Around 4,000 people gathered on the iconic Champs-Élysées in Paris, turning the renowned street into a sprawling picnic area. Bathed in warm sunlight, they savored their meal outdoors, creating a vibrant and relaxed atmosphere.
A lucky group of picnickers was chosen through a random draw and given complimentary baskets filled with delectable treats from renowned Parisian chefs. The baskets included a variety of mouthwatering options, such as exquisite puff pastries and innovative sandwiches.

The food was cooked in eight temporary kitchens set up along the avenue and generously provided by renowned restaurants, including the celebrated Fouquet’s, as well as McDonald’s.
The event took place on a massive tablecloth that stretched an impressive 216 meters (236 yards) from the iconic Arc de Triomphe to the intersection of Avenue George V. This unique setting provided a grand sitting area for attendees. It is worth noting that this event occurred precisely two months before the Summer Olympics’ opening ceremony, which will also be held in Paris.
According to organizers, the tablecloth, which was made in France from 100% recycled fibers, had a total surface area of 4,212 square meters (45,338 square feet).
Mayor Anne Hidalgo made a visit to the picnickers as well. In the past, the Champs-Élysées Committee has organized various open-air events, such as a large-scale movie screening and the world’s largest dictation event.
