“I’m the epitome of someone who has been constantly criticized and shamed for my food choices and weight,” Bertinelli expressed. “It’s absurd to think that I’m only considered lovable when I lose weight through Jenny Craig. I was lovable even before. This whole experience has deeply affected my mindset. Just like everyone else, I fell prey to the pervasive diet culture.”
Indulging in certain pleasures has often been criticized, but according to the speaker, it shouldn’t be seen in such a negative light. Instead of viewing it as cheating, she believes that allowing ourselves to enjoy the pleasures in life, such as food, is important. She emphasizes that food holds a significant place in her life and should be embraced rather than restricted.
