On the anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decision that revoked the federal right to access abortion, Vice President Harris is poised to hold former President Trump accountable for the fall of Roe v. Wade.
On the second anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, which returned the issue of abortion to individual states, Harris plans to attend a campaign event in Maryland. The announcement of the event was made by the Biden-Harris campaign on Wednesday.
In a statement released by the campaign, it was mentioned that the Vice President will emphasize on the fact that the overturning of Roe and the resulting chaos is solely due to Donald Trump’s actions. The statement further added that a second term for Trump would be a major threat to the reproductive freedom of people across the country.
Throughout the country, Harris has been a prominent advocate for reproductive rights in the wake of Roe v. Wade’s overturning, actively engaging with abortion advocates. As a leading voice within the Biden administration, she has been steadfast in her push for these rights.
In January, the “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms” tour was launched by the vice president. It aims to safeguard reproductive rights as many states have implemented restrictive laws on abortion access over the last couple of years.
While on the campaign trail, Harris consistently blames Trump for the implementation of stringent laws following the Roe decision.
During her visit to Arizona in April, she accused Trump of “gaslighting” when it comes to abortion and cautioned against the possibility of another term for him.
