The Corral Fire is currently active in San Joaquin County, near the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, approximately 50 miles outside of San Francisco. This information has been reported by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
According to a recent interview with Cal Fire Battalion Chief Josh Silveira, two firefighters sustained injuries in the fire. Silveira reported that one firefighter had minor injuries while the other had moderate injuries. Fortunately, both firefighters are expected to recover.
According to Silveira, the combination of higher temperatures, strong winds, and dry fuels made it difficult for firefighters to contain the fire yesterday.
According to Silveira, the winds that had been intensifying the fire on Saturday night calmed down significantly on Sunday. This allowed the firefighters to make significant progress in containing the blaze.
