According to The US Sun, homeowners in California have a significant opportunity to save money through a generous rebate program for switching to solar energy. This initiative aims to support low-income families and increase clean energy usage across the state.

Residents of California can apply for the state’s tax credit and rebate programs, which reward homeowners for installing solar panels. The Golden State offers financial benefits of up to $15,000 to citizens who choose clean energy. One of the biggest incentives is the Disadvantaged Communitiesโ€”Single-family Solar Homes program.

In California, the average cost of installing solar panels is $2.51 per watt, but this program provides an incentive of $3 per watt for low-income households. This means the total cost of installing the solar panels will be covered, plus some extra.

It’s a significant saving, considering the average cost of installing a 6kW system in California is $15,060, according to the US Energy Administration.

To apply for the DAC-SASH program, several criteria must be met.

Your home must be located in one of the stateโ€™s top 25% most disadvantaged communities, as identified by the California Communities Environmental Health Screening Tool.

You must be a customer of Pacificย Gas & Electric, San Diego Gas & Electric, or Southern California Edison. And your household income must be below the CARE Income Guidelines, which is $62,400 for aย familyย of four.
