On Wednesday, while meeting with politicians on Capitol Hill to fight for black entrepreneurs and more black participation in the liquor sector, 50 Cent stated that he sees black men “identifying with” Donald Trump, a convicted felon still under indictment.
When asked by CBS News congressional correspondent Nikole Killion which way he’s leaning in the presidential race, the rapper and liquor company owner, who supported Trump in 2020, claimed he hadn’t made up his mind. Regarding the relevance of the black male vote, he stated that Trump’s legal issues have made him an appealing candidate.
“I see them identifying with Trump,” he stated, “because they have RICO charges.”
Trump and several of his associates faced RICO charges last July for their attempts to overturn Georgia’s presidential election. During that procedure, they took Trump’s mugshot, leading some commentators, including Trump himself, to speculate that this could potentially improve his standing in the black community.
Regarding the reason for 50 Cent’s unexpected visit, he stated that everything went smoothly.
“This is quite thrilling for me.” I had the opportunity to meet with both sides today, and it feels really good,” he told USA Today. “[Lawmakers] don’t agree on a lot of stuff, and so to get them to agree on seeing me was an accomplishment in itself.”
“My experience here has been fantastic,” he concluded. “I went to talk to them about economic potential for everyone, and it’s quite exciting.” The feedback I received gives me hope that better days are ahead of us.”
