Police have reported that three men lost their lives on Friday evening after they went swimming in the Gulf Coast while visiting a Florida beach.
According to Bay County, Florida Sheriff Tommy Ford, two young men from Alabama arrived in Panama City Beach on Friday afternoon and went for a swim. The victims have not been identified beyond their description as “young men.”
Police received a distress call around 8:00 p.m. reporting three men in the water who needed assistance. Search and rescue teams immediately started combing the water to locate them. However, it wasn’t until 10:30 p.m. that all three men were found. Despite being rushed to the hospital, they were unfortunately pronounced dead, as confirmed by Ford.
On a Facebook post, Ford expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and extended his gratitude to the Bay County Emergency Services, the FWC, and the Coast Guard for their assistance during the rescue operations. “Their efforts were greatly appreciated,” he added.
