In Switzerland, rescuers have discovered the body of one of the three individuals who were swept away in a rockslide that struck their Alpine village following intense thunderstorms and rainfall. As per the authorities, the other two people are still missing.
Earlier on Saturday morning, rescuers were able to pull out one woman alive from the rubble.
Ignazio Cassis, a member of the Swiss Federal Council, expressed his condolences to the victims of the tragedy during a press conference on Sunday. He visited the affected area to show support on behalf of the Federal Government and stated, “Today is a sad day.”
Authorities reported that they found the body of a man in a river nearby.
According to William Kloter, who is leading the rescue operations, a group of 200 rescuers has been combing the area with the assistance of excavators, trained search dogs, drones, and army helicopters since Saturday in search of the missing persons. However, the chances of finding them alive are slim, as he informed reporters on Sunday.
Heavy rain caused a halt in the search operations during the night.

According to Swiss authorities, the flooding has caused a significant amount of damage to a segment of the A13 motorway that leads to Italy. This part of the major transit route has been completely submerged and destroyed, and it is expected to remain closed for several months. The affected area stretches between the San Bernardino Pass and Roveredo, which are crucial points along the route.
