According to authorities, Ka’Ron B. Montgomery was traveling in an easterly direction on Godfrey Avenue’s 600 block when he lost control of his vehicle and swerved off the road at approximately 1 a.m. as reported by Daily Voice.
According to authorities, the firefighter was declared deceased at the scene by PFD medics. An investigation is currently ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
The Engine 43 at 21st and Market streets in Center City had Montgomery as their assigned member, as revealed by the Philadelphia Fire Fighters and Paramedics Union. Montgomery devoted four years of service to the department.
On Monday, June 24, the funeral procession of Montgomery was honored by the staff at the PFD headquarters as it passed by on its way to the funeral home.
The fire department has stated that funeral arrangements are currently pending.
