President Biden’s reelection campaign playfully poked fun at former President Trump for spending his day off from court golfing.
“We discovered Trump’s whereabouts. Instead of campaigning, he was enjoying a game of golf,” revealed Ammar Moussa, a spokesperson for the Biden campaign. Moussa referred to a report from CNN which stated that Trump was at his golf club, Bedminster, in New Jersey.”
According to Moussa, if a campaign is solely focused on seeking revenge and retribution without any efforts to improve the lives of Americans, it is understandable that there is no desire to communicate directly with voters.
The Biden campaign issued a statement on Wednesday evening, prior to reports of Trump golfing, titled “Statement on Trump’s Campaign Events Today”. The statement simply stated that he did not have any campaign events.
Trump often gripes that the trial involving hush money, one of the numerous legal battles he faces as a former president, is orchestrated to prevent him from hitting the campaign trail.
Trump is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for his trial in New York regarding hush money. It’s important to note that this trial does not take place on Wednesdays. The charges against the former president include 34 counts of falsifying business records related to reimbursements made to his former fixer, Michael Cohen. These reimbursements were made in connection to a payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016. The payment was intended to keep Daniels quiet about an alleged affair she had with Trump a decade prior.
Democrats are optimistic that Biden’s ability to actively campaign while Trump is tied up in a courtroom in New York will provide a much-needed boost to his reelection efforts. In the past week, Biden has already embarked on campaign trips to Florida and New York, and he had previously visited Pennsylvania to engage with voters.
