A suspected abduction case involving a 1-year-old child from Massachusetts has come to a close with the child being found in the custody of his mother in north Alabama, specifically in Etowah County.
The Fall River Police Department recently issued a law enforcement bulletin concerning a missing infant that is considered endangered, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). This bulletin was released on Friday.
According to FRPD, on Thursday, Genezza Packett, aged 22, went to see her son who is in the custody of her aunt. Packett mentioned that she would take her child to a nearby Dunkin’ Donuts, but she did not return.
After conducting a thorough investigation, it was determined that Packett and the child were heading towards Mississippi in a car. The ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division was promptly notified with all the necessary details.
Around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, ALEA troopers discovered the vehicle on Interstate 59 in Etowah County near Attalla and conducted a traffic stop. The child was safely recovered, and Packett is facing criminal charges from FRPD in Massachusetts.
In a recent press release, ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor praised the outstanding collaboration and communication displayed by the Intelligence Analysts in their Fusion Center and Troopers, as well as their colleagues in other states, for their pivotal role in the safe recovery of a missing one-year-old child. Secretary Taylor lauded their dedication to duty and quick thinking, which led to the successful recovery of the child. This exemplary display of the true spirit of law enforcement highlights the importance of sharing intelligence with both local and state law enforcement partners.
