NOCO Humane is efficiently finding new homes for their dogs and cats, with adoption rates exceeding the usual average.

According to Amanda Myers, the spokesperson for NOCO Humane, adoptions have been going exceptionally well since the beginning of June. As of this afternoon, there have been 475 adoptions in June alone.

On the other hand, the picture presented by the animals taken in by the organization tells a different story.

According to Myers, our shelter has received more than a thousand animals throughout the month of June.

It’s easy to see that there are more animals than available homes for them, which poses a significant challenge. Unfortunately, this is not an uncommon occurrence.

Myers added that the sad reality is that this trend is becoming increasingly common across the country, especially when it comes to dogs.

The shelter has recently introduced temporary guidelines to regulate the influx of animals. They are encouraging the community to avoid surrendering animals unless it is absolutely necessary.

NOCO Humane urges pet owners to take responsibility for re-homing their animals themselves through the use of its website, rather than surrendering them to a shelter. By doing so, shelter intake is prevented, and space is made available for homeless pets.

The shelter actively looks for temporary homes for animals, particularly strays, in addition to their other services.

Myers suggested that if you come across a robust and healthy pet and are willing to offer it temporary care, they can collaborate to reunite the animal with its owner without taking it to the shelter.

To encourage more adoptions, adoption fees have been completely waived.

Myers encouraged those who have been hindered by the adoption fee to step forward now.
