Alyssa, a resident of Alabama, has taken to TikTok to share a surprising story about her stint as a nanny, which has amassed 147K views to date. In her video, which can be found under the handle ย (@alyssa.glavan, she reveals an unusual discovery she made while working for the proprietor of a nearby air conditioning firm.
As I’m sitting at the airport, I wanted to share a story with you about my time as a nanny for Bethancourt Air Conditioning and Heating. Recently, I came across a post on Mandeville Mommas regarding the company’s boss who is facing charges for allegedly taking pictures of people without their consent.
Alyssa confidently states that she was the nanny of the family, and she has evidence to support her claim. Recounting a particular incident, she shares, “While I was picking up some fallen Q-tips in the bathroom, I happened to spot a smoke detector placed at a low position inside the closet. It caught my attention, and I found it peculiar, so I decided to investigate the matter further.”
She explains that the camera was hidden in the location where she pointed. After making a few calls, she confirmed that it was indeed a camera. When she removed it from the wall, she found an SD card at the back.
After scanning the QR code on the camera, Alyssa was shocked to discover that it was a “secret spy cam,” and immediately grasped the gravity of the situation. In response, she promptly took action to resolve the issue. Despite having the baby with her at the time, she immediately contacted the police and reported the incident. She also called the mother, informed her of a medical emergency, and arranged for someone to pick up their child. However, she did not remain at their residence.
According to Alyssa, the detectives thoroughly investigated the matter. The perpetrator was charged with 11 counts of secretly filming individuals, all of which were captured by the camera he had placed in the bathroom that Alyssa had been using. Although the investigation is ongoing, Alyssa’s TikTok video resonated with viewers who flooded the comments section with supportive messages.
In her own words, Alyssa expressed her dilemma, stating that she had been grappling with what to do with the information. She further mentioned that it had been several weeks since the bond was posted, and no information had been made public. Hence, she felt it was the right time to voice her concerns. Alyssa left the first comment on the matter.
According to one user, they had a similar experience with a family friend. “Their home insurance company should be sued for personal liability, and you deserve compensation,” they advised.
A helpful suggestion was contributed by another user who recommended, “Wow, this is alarming! Please accept my apologies. For those who may be concerned, there are various apps available that can identify concealed cameras if you’re staying in a hotel or any other unfamiliar place.”
The issue of parents resorting to monitoring their nannies, including the use of hidden cameras, has generated controversy. Although it’s challenging to obtain precise statistics on the frequency of such occurrences, reports and personal experiences suggest that it’s not an uncommon practice.
