The Southeast police chase that resulted in a fatal crash on Tuesday has now been identified by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) as involving two individuals. DC News Now reported this development.
According to MPD, the tragic car crash involved three individuals, including 19-year-old Demetri Koger and 17-year-old Dashawn Harris, both hailing from Southeast D.C. Unfortunately, Harris lost his life in the accident.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the white BMW, which had been connected to several robberies in Maryland and D.C., was spotted by police from Anne Arundel County. The officers initiated a chase of the vehicle.
After being thrown out of the BMW, Koger attempted to flee the scene but was eventually apprehended by the police, according to MPD. Fortunately, Koger’s injuries were not life-threatening, and he was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Koger faces charges for being a fugitive from justice.
Authorities pulled Harris and another individual from the BMW, both of whom tragically passed away on-site. The identity of the second person has yet to be determined as of Wednesday afternoon.
