MAGA Republican, Lauren Boebert, has responded to President Joe Biden’s remarks about her during the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday night.
The president strongly criticized the Colorado representative for her behavior during a performance of “Beetlejuice” in September. She was thrown out of the theatre in Denver due to her lewd and loud conduct.
During the embarrassing incident, video footage captured Ms. Boebert, who is currently seeking re-election in a new district, vaping and engaging in what appeared to be inappropriate touching with her date.
“It’s a constant reminder that people perceive the activities in Congress as nothing more than political theatre,” remarked Mr. Biden on Saturday night.
“If Congress were a theatre, Lauren Boebert would have been thrown out a long time ago,” said an anonymous source.
Ms. Boebert responded to the president’s comments on Monday, suggesting that he should “keep that basement warm” as the November election approaches.
In a post on X, she humorously alluded to the upcoming month of November, saying, “Speaking of throwing people out, keep that basement warm.”
In 2020, Mr. Biden faced criticism for conducting his campaign virtually from home due to the pandemic. Republicans accused him of being stuck in his basement studio in Delaware. This led to the term “basement campaigns” being used to describe other candidates who are perceived as being absent from the campaign trail.
In a recent press release, the Biden campaign criticized Donald Trump, referring to him as “Broke Don Hides in Basement,” amidst the former president’s ongoing legal troubles. The campaign is attempting to associate this label with the presumptive Republican nominee.
According to a spokesperson for Joe Biden, the President has managed to visit eight swing states within a span of just 18 days. Meanwhile, Donald Trump has spent a significant amount of time golfing, all while actively engaging in social media.
Billionaire Elon Musk faced criticism last year for attempting to revive a 2016 conspiracy theory called Pizzagate, which centered around the false claim that top Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, were operating a child sex trafficking ring out of the basement of Comet Ping Pong, a Washington DC pizzeria that does not have a basement. This unusual incident added to the list of peculiar events associated with DC basements.
After the “Beetlejuice” incident, Ms. Boebert initially stated that she was asked to leave the theater due to her loud laughter and singing. Her campaign also denied the allegation that she had been vaping in the theater.
Surveillance footage captured inside the building exposed a contrasting narrative, showcasing the lawmaker vaping, singing, and capturing flash photos during the performance. Additionally, she was observed engaging in intimate moments with her male companion.
After the release of the footage, Ms. Boebert had a change of heart and issued an apology for her behavior, attributing it to the emotional toll of her recent divorce from her husband of 18 years.
In a statement, Ms. Boebert acknowledged the challenging personal time her family has been going through due to her public and difficult divorce. She expressed her efforts to handle the situation with strength and grace, but admitted that she fell short of her values on Sunday. Ms. Boebert took responsibility for her actions, deeming them unacceptable and apologizing for them.
She expressed, “I honestly couldn’t remember vaping that evening, whether it was due to the excitement of witnessing a highly-anticipated production or the normal nervousness of being in a new environment. I was discussing the events of the night with my campaign team, expressing my enthusiasm for the musical.”
During the Saturday dinner, Mr. Biden took the opportunity to make fun of Mr. Trump regarding his ongoing hush money trial in Manhattan.
“I’ve been on a winning streak since the State of the Union, while Donald has faced some challenges recently. It’s safe to say he’s been weathering the storm, much like Stormy Daniels,” remarked Mr. Biden, alluding to the adult film star.
The former president is currently facing 34 charges of falsifying business records in relation to a hush money payment made to Ms. Daniels. This payment was intended to cover up an alleged affair that took place in 2006 between Mr. Trump and Ms. Daniels, during the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election.
During a recent event, President Biden humorously commented on former President Trump’s actions, stating, “Trump’s so desperate he started reading those Bibles he’s selling, then he got the First Commandment: You shall have no other Gods before me. That’s when he put it down and said ‘This book’s not for me’.” Biden’s witty remark highlighted Trump’s alleged insincerity in his religious practices.
