Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene looks to have outstupided herself.
That is no minor task. Perhaps the task is so small that it is invisible to the naked eye. Regardless, Greene’s clumsy and ultimately futile attempt to oust Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson for the crime of governing failed horribly on Wednesday, sending a chorus of boos down on the congresswoman and possibly signaling the end of her absurd period in American politics.
Greene declared the office of Speaker of the House of Representatives vacant after reading her resolution to remove Johnson.
An odd combination of Republicans and Democrats responded with a 359-43 vote to dismiss Greene’s nonsense: “That’s about enough of that, you goofball.”
Greene’s anger at Johnson started when he dared to pass legislation
The trouble began when Johnson successfully rallied his unruly GOP coalition to team up with Democrats and approve a crucial foreign aid package. This package provided much-needed assistance to Ukraine and other important American allies.
The latest update on the Trump trial brings forth shocking revelations as Stormy Daniels unveils intricate details regarding her alleged affair with Trump. This bombshell revelation poses a challenging situation for Trump’s team as they scramble to navigate through the ensuing spin.
To her surprise, the Georgia lawmaker discovered that very few Republicans were willing to join her on this journey.
Only in today’s GOP could a ridiculous figure like Greene gain power
Greene’s political tactics – loud, incorrect, and if that fails, even louder and more incorrect – had surprisingly elevated her to a position of influence within the Republican party. It was a stroke of sheer luck, beyond any reasonable expectation.
Donald Trump’s flagrant lack of honesty and inclination towards being the most unpleasant individual in a given space made crude and excessively talkative conduct something that Republicans aimed for, and few have demonstrated a greater aptitude for it than Greene. She embodies, in every sense, an absurdity, a depiction of a person who should not be granted any form of authority.
Despite the perplexing nature of the current political climate, she has managed to secure a position of influence within the halls of power. Not only does she sit on congressional committees, but she also appears to have garnered favor from President Trump, possibly due to her penchant for dishonesty. It is undeniable that the events unfolding in recent times have left many questioning the logic behind such developments.
However, there was always an issue with someone like her, someone who excelled at mimicking Trump’s complete disregard for facts or knowledge.
Greene’s tried to out-Trump Donald Trump, and it didn’t go well
The problem with today’s GOP is that there can only be one person who gets away with lying, bullying, and punishing people for no reason, and that person is Donald Trump.
The MAGA king did not want Greene to try to remove Johnson. As much as Trump admires Greene’s obedience and pliable morality, her request to vacate was unsuccessful. It’s too close to the election, and an internal mutiny would make House Republicans appear disorganized, which they are.
According to Trump, Greene became a virtual outcast on a perilous quest to do the noisiest, dumbest thing possible.
Apparently unable to make a scene, she ignored Trump and went forward, and on Wednesday, after several years of atrocities, she was exposed as the powerless, outmatched showboater she is.
Greene’s magnificently malevolent moment may have peaked
Greene’s Herculean exhibitions of vacuousness were never without an end, even in a political party as uniquely ludicrous and useless as Trump’s.
In 2021, she fell seamlessly into a Republican Party that thrives on idiocy. However, like a dull-witted Icarus, she has now flown too close to being dumb.
Greene will not go away, but her power in the party she so actively attempted to destabilize will diminish.
She has seen the limitations of Trump’s popularity, and her colleagues now have the permission structure to reject the unserious monster they created.
