President Joe Biden hosted the Las Vegas Aces, the current reigning champions of the WNBA, at the White House on Thursday. He praised the team for their remarkable achievements and referred to it as a “banner year” for women’s basketball.
“It is incredibly significant for girls and women to witness their own representation,” expressed Biden during the celebration, which took place in the East Room of the White House. “This matters not only to them but to all Americans. As a nation, it is crucial that we stand behind women’s sports and offer our support.”
As President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris received their jerseys from the victorious team, an enthusiastic Biden exclaimed, “Put me in, Coach, I’m ready to play!”
Harris commended the team for their exuberant play and their exemplary behavior on and off the basketball court.
Harris praised the ability to inspire people both in the nation and around the world.
The Las Vegas Aces emerged victorious in the WNBA championship in October, securing their second consecutive WNBA title by defeating the New York Liberty.
