Senator Lindsey Graham is facing criticism for equating Israel’s military campaign in Gaza to the United States’ decision to use atomic bombs on Japan during World War II. He urged Israel to take whatever actions necessary.
During a conversation with Kristin Welker, Mr. Graham discussed the decision to utilize nuclear weapons to bring an end to the war after the devastating attack on Pearl Harbor by the Germans and the Japanese.
He reached the conclusion that it was the correct decision.
According to Mr. Graham, it is imperative to provide Israel with the necessary resources to bring an end to the war they are currently engaged in and to collaborate with them in order to minimize the number of casualties.
The senator’s comments brought Ms. Welker to a halt, as he persisted in speaking over the host.
“Why is it acceptable for America to have dropped two nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki as a means to end their existential threat of war? I personally believed it was acceptable,” Mr. Graham pondered.
He emphasized the importance of Israel’s survival as a Jewish state, saying, “Israel, you must do whatever it takes to ensure your survival.”
Mr. Graham has once again expressed his controversial stance on the Middle East conflict, previously advising the US president to obliterate certain areas of Iran.
In December, he expressed his stance on Fox News, stating, “I have been saying for six months now… hit Iran.”
“Blow off the map the oil fields they have out in the open and the Revolutionary Guard headquarters that can be seen from space,” he exclaimed confidently.
The United Nations reports that over 360,000 Palestinians have fled the region as Israel carries out a ground invasion on the Gazan city of Rafah. This comes as the Republican senator shares his comments on the situation.
Tensions between the US and Israel are escalating as President Biden issues a warning to Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding the potential consequences of an Israeli invasion of Rafah. In his warning, President Biden makes it clear that the United States will take action to limit the supply of certain weapons to Israel.
During an interview with Phil McGraw on the Dr Phil show, Mr Netanyahu promptly expressed his concerns about the cessation of precision weapons. He highlighted that such a move could potentially lead to an increase in civilian casualties as a result of the use of less accurate weaponry.
