Kristen Welker and her husband have exciting news to share – they are expecting their second child through surrogacy.
In 2021, Welker, who is 47 years old, opened up about her and her husband John Hughes’s surrogacy journey. She revealed that they had tried to conceive for two years through in vitro fertilization but discovered that her uterus was too thin for childbirth.
Margot, the couple’s daughter, came into the world in June of 2021.
Welker expressed her disbelief at the idea of becoming a mother to not just one, but two children. Reflecting on the long journey she has been on, she shared her astonishment at the current stage of her life.
She mentioned that being an only child, she had always desired to have two children.
Welker and Hughes expressed their gratitude for their surrogate, describing her as an “angel on Earth.” They joyfully shared the news that Margot will soon have a new little brother joining their family.
Welker, who was recently appointed moderator of “Meet the Press,” jokingly exclaimed, “We could really use some guidance on how to navigate parenting boys!”
Guthrie made a witty remark about the imminent arrival of Welker and Hughes’s son, who is expected to make his debut in just a few weeks.
Guthrie mentioned that the upcoming election season is still a few months away in November. However, she jokingly added that it seems like her baby knew the perfect timing to arrive.
Welker responded, saying, “He is punctual as always.”
