Authorities in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park are currently conducting a search for a 23-year-old hiker who failed to return from his expedition to summit Longs Peak on Sunday.
Lucas Macaj, a resident of Colorado Springs, was supposed to return by late Sunday. The last communication received from him was a text message he sent to a friend around 1 p.m. on Sunday, stating that he had reached the summit of Longs Peak.
Macaj’s vehicle was discovered parked at the Longs Peak Trailhead in the early hours of Monday morning.
Rocky Mountain National Park reported that significant storms swept through the park’s high elevations on Sunday.
Macaj is most likely sporting a dark blouse, tan or brown jeans, khaki boots, and a black backpack. He stands about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighs approximately 155 pounds.
Search and rescue personnel are on the ground and in the air, looking for Macaj.
