According to Decision Desk HQ, Sen. Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.) is projected to have a comfortable victory in his Republican primary.
Ricketts, who was chosen to replace former Senator Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) last year and is now seeking to complete the remainder of Sasse’s term, successfully overcame a primary challenge from Air Force veteran John Glen Weaver, who had the endorsement of the Nebraska GOP. Republican candidate Mac Stevens also participated in the GOP primary.
In the upcoming November election, Republican Ricketts, a former governor, will be facing off against Democrat Preston Love Jr. Love is not only the founder but also serves as the executive director for the Black Votes Matter Institute of Community Engagement.
According to the Cook Political Report, Ricketts’s seat is considered to be firmly in the Republican party’s favor.
