It was revealed that Clifton Williams, a 50-year-old man, has been identified by the New York City Police as the alleged assailant who randomly punched actor Steve Buscemi in the face during an attack last week.
On Tuesday, the NYPD released surveillance photographs, stating that the police are investigating the attack and looking for Williams.
Last Monday, the NYPD described Williams as a “male with a dark complexion” who was wearing a dark baseball cap, a blue T-shirt, black jeans, and white sneakers while carrying a bookbag.
The attack occurred at 11:50 a.m. on May 8 as Buscemi, 66, walked along a sidewalk on Third Ave. at E. 27th Street in Kips Bay.
Emergency responders transported Buscemi to Bellevue Hospital to treat a bruised, swollen, and bleeding left eye.
Buscemi is a Brooklyn native and former firefighter who assisted his former FDNY unit following the 9/11 terrorist attack in 2001.
Buscemi has appeared in dozens of films and television shows, including the five-season series “Boardwalk Empire” on HBO.
A man with a rock unexpectedly attacked “Boardwalk Empire” co-star Michael Stuhlbarg on March 31 while he was strolling in Central Park.
Stuhlbarg pursued his assailant and held him until police arrived and arrested him.
Police identified Xavier Israel, 27, as Stuhlbarg’s suspected assailant and charged him with assault.
