Puerto Rico ‘most wanted’ apprehended on run since shootout with cops caught hiding in NYC: sources

Two of Puerto Rico’s most wanted fugitives were apprehended in the Bronx months after a gunfight with police left them missing, according to law enforcement sources.

The US Marshals fugitive task group apprehended the elusive duo—JJay Livan Diaz-Del Valle, 25, and Hector Manuel Cruz-Ayala, 27—oon Monday and Tuesday, sources said.

Their charges arise from an incident with the Puerto Rico Police Department on December 12, 2023, during which officials attempted to arrest the two on weapons possession charges, according to sources.

According to accounts, the two men opened fire on the officers, hurting three of them, before fleeing.

Police issued a warrant for the guys, who are also suspected of multiple homicides.

According to sources, the Marshals and Puerto Rican authorities learned on May 10 that Del Valle and Ayala were possibly hiding in New York City.

Three days later, they discovered Del-Valle on East Tremont and Marmion Avenues in the Bronx.

The next day, they apprehended Ayala on the 2000 block of Vyse Avenue in the Bronx, according to sources.

According to authorities, they will most certainly face charges for attempted murder of a police officer, possession of firearms, and other violations.
