President Biden holds a narrow lead over former President Trump in a recent national poll of voters. The margin widens slightly when focusing on those who have expressed their intention to vote in the upcoming November election.
According to a recent poll conducted by Marist and PBS NewsHour, Joe Biden is currently leading Donald Trump among registered voters. The poll reveals that Biden has a slight edge, with 51 percent of voters supporting him compared to 48 percent for Trump. This represents a slight increase for Biden since the previous poll, which showed him leading with 50 percent compared to Trump’s 48 percent.
According to the poll, Biden’s lead expands to 53 percent to 47 percent when considering only those who stated their definite intention to vote in the upcoming November election.
Among independent voters, the two men are currently tied at 49 percent. Only 2 percent of independent voters remain undecided.
In the expanded survey, Biden continues to hold onto his lead, even with the inclusion of independent and third-party candidates like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West, and Jill Stein.
When the three candidates were taken into account, Biden maintains a lead over Trump among registered voters, with a margin of 43% to 38%. Additionally, Kennedy garners support from 14% of the respondents. Notably, Kennedy attracts 8% of Democrats, 10% of Republicans, and a significant 27% of independents.
A recent poll conducted from April 16-18, surveyed 1,192 adults, of which 1,047 were registered voters. It is worth noting that the survey was conducted during the opening week of Donald Trump’s hush money trial in New York City. The margin of error for this poll is 3.4 percentage points.
Biden has recently seen an increase in popularity, making gains in national polls and catching up to Trump in a Decision Desk HQ/The Hill average of national polls. These close polls indicate that the upcoming election between Biden and Trump, a rematch of the 2020 race that Biden emerged victorious from, is expected to be a tight race, just as strategists have predicted.
According to the averages from Decision Desk HQ, Trump is currently leading in battleground states like Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina. On the other hand, Biden is performing better in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
