Attorneys representing Hunter Biden have requested a California judge to postpone his upcoming tax trial until September or a later date.
The trial, which accuses Biden of participating in a tax conspiracy, is set to commence on June 20. This comes just a few weeks after his scheduled appearance in Delaware for a trial on gun charges.
The Delaware trial is scheduled to commence on June 3rd. In their submissions to U.S. District Court Judge Mark Scarsi, Biden’s lawyers have stated that they anticipate his counsel to stay there until at least June 14th, as they request a delay.
According to Biden’s lawyers, Mr. Biden is seeking a limited reprieve from the upcoming deadlines and has requested a brief continuance for the first time.
In April, Biden made an unsuccessful attempt to have the court dismiss the three felony charges and six misdemeanor charges against him.
According to federal prosecutors, Biden allegedly earned over $7 million in total income from 2016 to 2020. However, instead of paying taxes, he supposedly used this money to support an opulent lifestyle. Prosecutors claim that Biden spent the funds on extravagant expenses such as escort services, luxury vehicles, and lavish hotel stays. Shockingly, these lavish expenditures were then fraudulently classified as business expenses in an attempt to evade taxes.
Hunter Biden’s legal team made an unsuccessful attempt earlier this week to have the gun case postponed until September. They argued that they needed more time to search for addiction experts and review chain of custody details. In addition, earlier in the month, Hunter Biden lost a bid to have the gun charges dropped.
