Former and current border authorities say President Biden is making last-minute changes to his administration’s border policies in order to win votes in the November presidential election.

The Biden administration announced on May 16 that it will begin a new expedited asylum adjudication process for migrants. The process will review cases in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, or New York City, with decisions expected within 180 days.

Sources recently informed The Post that the president is considering using an executive order to close the border once there are 4,000 crossings per day.

Former President Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf, Yuma County Sheriff Leon Wilmot, and former Yuma sector Border Patrol chief Chris Clem all told The Post that they believe these fixes are only for show and will not address the problems caused by the last three and a half years of border crisis.

Biden’s measures and plans are “a fourth-quarter Hail Mary out of desperation,” according to Clem.

The Biden administration is also placing new restrictions on asylum interviews at the southern border in order to expedite the removal of migrants who cannot demonstrate a “credible fear” of returning to their home country.

“I believe it comes too late and contradicts [Biden’s] claim that he lacks authority,” Clem expressed.

Polaris, a national security organization under the leadership of former Trump administration State Department spokesperson Morgan Ortagus, arranged a trip for Clem and Wolf to Yuma.

The additional changes “aren’t going to have a material difference in what’s going on at the border,” Wolf added.

“We have been in a crisis for about three and a half years, and only now are they starting to take executive action.” We have been appealing to the administration to make these moves for the past two and a half to three years.

“They’ve repeatedly told the American people that [Biden] doesn’t have authority, that he needs Congress to act on a bill, and yet they’re starting to act using executive authority, so which is it?” Wolf stated.

Wilmot expressed his dissatisfaction with the Biden administration’s policies while searching the border for discarded migrant identification documents, which migrants use to conceal their true identity after crossing the border and claiming asylum, making it difficult for officers to know where to deport them.

Wilmot questioned, “Where have they been?”

“Why is there such a need for border security? Because it is election year.”

The Biden administration recently met with Mexican officials to explore methods to combat illegal immigration.

Mexican officials have been deporting migrants without permits from trains and buses bound for the United States as part of a deal with the Biden administration.

According to Wilmot, Biden recognized the situation at the border was “a bad look” for him, which led to the agreement with Mexico.

“And I don’t care what administration it is; from a public safety standpoint, what they’re doing is wrong,” Wilmot stated.

In January, Biden told reporters that he had “done everything I could to handle the border” and that Congress needed to act.

Biden has since shifted his stance as voters increasingly prioritize illegal immigration and stronger border enforcement.
