Former President Donald Trump has hinted at a potential role for former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley on his team, following her announcement that she would vote for him in the November elections.
During his rally in the Bronx on Thursday, Trump expressed his appreciation for what she had said, as he told Long Island’s News 12.
In response to the question of whether she would join his team or his ticket, Trump expressed his belief that she would be on their team due to their shared ideas and thoughts.
It remains uncertain how actively Haley will contribute to Trump’s re-election campaign, considering her relatively lukewarm endorsement. Currently, Haley has not made any public indications of her intention to work with the Trump campaign. Following a May 11 report suggesting Haley as a potential vice presidential candidate, the former president swiftly responded on Truth Social, stating, “Nikki Haley is not being considered for the V.P. slot, but I wish her well!”
Nikki Haley, the former United Nations ambassador, expressed her intention to vote for Trump due to her belief that President Joe Biden’s performance in foreign affairs has been subpar.
During a foreign policy discussion at the Hudson Institute, a conservative think tank where she is employed, Haley expressed her perspective on the policies of both Trump and Biden. She acknowledged that Trump may not have been perfect on these policies, but in her view, Biden has been a catastrophe. As a result, she made it clear that she would be casting her vote in support of Trump.
In her speech suspending her campaign on March 6, Haley reiterated her support for the remarks she made, stating that she firmly believes “it is now Donald Trump’s responsibility to win over the votes of those within our party who did not originally back him, and I genuinely hope that he is able to do so.”
Haley’s talent for rallying a diverse group of voters, including independents and moderate Republicans, has drawn widespread acclaim. Recognizing the concerns these voters have had with Trump as the Republican nominee, the Biden campaign has actively sought to connect with them. It is worth noting that Haley has managed to maintain a strong base of support even after withdrawing from the race.
