Police say a 17-year-old boy died and many others were shot early Monday morning in Lansing, Michigan.
According to a news release from the Lansing Police Department, officers responded to the incident downtown around 2:50 a.m.

“When officers arrived, they found a large crowd of people and multiple shooting victims,” according to the press statement. “The Lansing Fire Department responded to treat and transport several of the victims to a local hospital.”
Authorities reported that they shot seven people aged 15 to 20. The 17-year-old died at a local hospital, and at least one other person is in critical condition, according to the announcement.
Lansing mayor: ‘This is a case of people using guns to settle arguments’
According to a press release, no arrests had been made as of Monday morning. The release also stated that the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident and confirmed that the investigation is still ongoing.
Lansing Mayor Andy Schor is urging for increased state and federal efforts to address gun control, as reported by local station WILX.
“My heart goes out to the victims and their families in this tragic incident of people resorting to guns to settle arguments,” expressed Schor in his statement.
