Justin Bieber and other celebrities are expressing their grief over the passing of a cherished musician.
Chris King, whose real name was Christopher Cheeks, was tragically shot and killed in Nashville, Tenn. on April 20. This senseless act of violence also resulted in injuries to others, according to a press release from the police. Chris King was only 32 years old at the time of his death.
According to the press release, Chris, along with two friends, was shot during an armed robbery by three suspects. The incident occurred between Hayes and Church Streets in Nashville. Another 29-year-old, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated that the three suspects were initially hanging out in a cordial manner with their group before the situation escalated into violence.
After learning about Chris’ passing, Justin took to social media to express his deep sorrow and pay tribute to his dear friend and former housemate.
“I love you, bro,” he expressed in an Instagram Story on April 20, as reported by People. “This news is devastating. Let’s keep his family in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in paradise, my dear brother.”
The rapper, known for his collaborations with various artists including Trippie Redd, and also the founder of the music label Snotty Nose Records, has made a name for himself in the industry. Trippie Redd paid tribute to him on social media platforms.
“Original 1400 I love you until we meet again twin,” Trippie wrote in an April 21 Instagram post. “Would not be where I am today without @whoischrisking he introduced me to @elliotgrainge & @milothelight and he had the best energy always. He had so many friends and it shows I love you guys for supporting one of my best friends ever, my brother.”
Machine Gun Kelly also paid respect to the late musician in the comments section, stating, “Chris was rare.”
Meanwhile, Keke Palmer paid tribute by describing how she and Chris met and worked together in the entertainment world.
“I wish I had more photos but it’s actually perfect because this is exactly how it began,” the Nope star wrote. “I can’t believe I’m saying rest in peace. This is terrible. I really don’t know what to say. I just want to share that I loved you and I remember all the city walk, grove moments.”
Keke, 30, who posted an old snapshot of the two video talking, also lauded Chris for how he treated others.
“That was my high school,” she added. “When we were babies before everyone knew you was a real rockstar. We were kids! And you always knew how to make everyone laugh. Your kindness was present no matter what room you were in, everybody was and wanted to be your friend. We will miss you until we meet again, rest heavenly brother.”
