A buck was spotted wandering for two weeks with a miniature hockey net entangled in its antlers in New York. The animal control officer successfully rescued the animal from the net.
According to a social media post by the Amherst Police Department, a buck was spotted wandering with a net over its face and antlers for a minimum of two weeks.
According to a Facebook post by an animal control officer, despite the mini hockey net being a nuisance to him, the animal was highly agile and kept running away whenever the rehabber tried to sedate it.
Fuzzy Fawn Wildlife successfully tracked down the deer and the animal control officer promptly arrived to aid in the rescue mission.
The officer reported that today they were able to finally sedate the deer who had been seeking refuge in the nook of a church. In the officer’s words, “Once he was snoozing, the net was cut off his antlers in less than a minute, the sedation was reversed and he was free to do deer things unencumbered by rattling PVC pipe!” It seems that the deer can now go back to living its life without any further interference.
