In response to a federal judge’s order for Steve Bannon to report to prison, former President Trump expressed his frustration on Thursday. He went on to call for the indictment of members of the House panel who investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, riot.
In a post on Truth Social, the ex-president alleged that the House panel had engaged in criminal activity by erasing and destroying all material evidence.
In a recent post, Trump expressed his concern about the unlawful use of law enforcement tactics. He emphasized that the weaponization of law enforcement has reached unprecedented levels of illegality. In his tweet, he also urged to indict the unselected J6 committee for illegally deleting and destroying their findings.
Previously, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), the former chair of the panel, has rebutted the GOP’s allegations that the committee withheld information.
In the end, the committee revealed criminal referrals aimed at Trump, leading to his subsequent criminal charges in Washington, D.C. These charges stem from his attempts to undermine the 2020 election, as well as other ongoing cases.
In July, Bannon, a former top adviser to President Trump during the 2016 campaign and a brief period in the White House, will begin his four-month prison sentence as he appeals his contempt of Congress conviction, following a federal judge’s order on Thursday.
