According to a Gaza health official, Israel’s most recent hostage rescue operation, which successfully rescued four Israeli hostages, killed at least 210 Palestinians, including children.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Israel Police, and Israel Securities Authority rescued Noa Argamani (25), Almog Meir Jan (21), Andrey Kozlov (27), and Shlomi Ziv (40), according to a joint statement.
The extraordinary operation, which included a strong air and ground bombardment, took place in two separate locations in Nuseirat, central Gaza. The IDF reports that they took all four captives from the Nova music event.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital received the bodies of 109 Palestinians, including 23 children and 11 women, and spokeswoman Khalil Degran informed The Associated Press (AP) that over 100 wounded had also arrived. In additioFurthermore, after conferring with the director, he confirmed that Al-Awda Hospital received the remaining 210 Palestinians. he Associated Press was unable to corroborate the numbers at that hospital.
While Basem Naim, a top Hamas official now living in Lebanon, took a very different tack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue the fight until all captives were free.
“The horrific massacre committed today by Netanyahu and his fascist government against the Palestinian people in Gaza, which led to the slaughter of 210 and more than 400 wounded so farโunder the pretext of liberating those detained by the resistanceโconfirms what the resistance has said repeatedly: that Netanyahu doesn’t plan to reach an agreement to stop the war and free the captured Israelis peacefully,” Naim told The Associated Press.
The hostage rescue and subsequent killings of Palestinians occur as Israel continues to face intense international pressure and criticism for the number of civilian deaths, as well as doubts about whether it is doing enough to avoid them.
The United Nations placed Israel on its “blacklist” for child rights breaches on Friday, while progressive Democrats continue to condemn Israel’s conduct, with some pledging not to attend Netanyahu’s scheduled speech to a joint session of Congress.
