The Teton Pass has recently suffered a major collapse, resulting in a large dirt gap along the mountain pass. This pass serves as a crucial link between the quaint towns of eastern Idaho and the popular tourist destination of Jackson, Wyoming.
The Wyoming Transportation Department released video footage that vividly displayed the full extent of the damage.
According to authorities, the section of road that collapsed occurred during a time when the road was closed. This incident happened on June 8, following a mudslide a few miles away. There were already concerns about a crack and drop in the road, which was initially noticed after a motorcycle crash.
The timeline for rebuilding the road, which is a frequently used route for commuters who reside in Idaho but work in the expensive city of Jackson, remains uncertain.
Mark Gordon, the governor of Wyoming, characterized the landslide as “catastrophic”.
