The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) under the New Jersey Attorney General’s office is currently conducting a review of the liquor licenses held by Donald Trump’s golf courses in the state. This move comes as a response to the former President’s recent criminal conviction in New York. The agency has confirmed the ongoing investigation.

Trump currently has three active licenses for his golf clubs – Trump National Golf Club Colts Neck, Lamington Farm Club, and Trump National Golf Club Pine Hill.

In an email, a spokesperson for the agency stated that they are currently reviewing the impact of President Trump’s conviction on the licenses mentioned above and declined to provide further comment at this time.

In New Jersey, it is unlawful to grant a liquor license to an individual who has a criminal record involving moral turpitude. The Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control requires liquor license applicants to have a good reputation and to operate their business in a reputable manner. Therefore, the division has the authority to take into account Donald Trump’s criminal past when considering his application for a liquor license.

Last month, a jury convicted Trump on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in relation to a 2016 payment to adult film actress, Stormy Daniels. Trump made the payment as a hush money to enhance his chances of winning the 2016 presidential election.

For the first time in history, a criminal conviction has been handed down to a former president of the United States.

As he left the courtroom last month, Trump remained firm in his stance of innocence. “We didn’t do anything wrong. I am a completely innocent man โ€“ it’s alright,” he declared. He went on to say, “I am fighting for our country and our constitution. Our nation is currently being rigged.”

It is anticipated that Trump will submit an appeal once he receives his sentencing in July.
