Investigators report that a 41-year-old man died after his pit bull mauled him inside his Bronx apartment on Friday.
Officers from the New York Police Department arrived at an apartment about 3:09 a.m. on Friday after receiving a report of a dog biting its owner, police said.
The police did not identify the victim. Authorities reported that EMS transported the man to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where they declared him dead.
Following the attack, officers on the scene fatally shot the dog and sent them to a nearby hospital for treatment. The police said the investigation is ongoing.
