A socialite from Los Angeles was convicted of killing two young boys in a car accident and has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for her actions.

During the hearing, Rebecca Grossman implored the judge to take into account the pain and anguish she had endured. In response, the sentence was handed down.

In her defense, Grossman, who is 60 years old, stated firmly that she is not a murderer. She expressed deep remorse for the pain her actions have caused both her own family and the families of the two deceased young individuals, and shared that these consequences are already being felt as a form of punishment.

During a court hearing on Monday, the verdict was declared for the six-week trial where she was found guilty of two counts of second-degree murder. The charges were related to the deaths of Mark Iskander, 11, and his brother Jacob Iskander, 8. She now faces her prison sentence.

Grossman found herself in a reckless game of chicken with her former lover, Scott Erickson, a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Before the incident, they had been enjoying cocktails at a nearby bar.

In a letter addressed to Superior Court Judge Joseph Brandolino, David Grossman firmly asserted, “I want to make it clear that I am not a murderer, and I urge you to acknowledge this truth.” The contents of the letter were obtained by The New York Post.

“I am already suffering from the pain caused to me, my family, and the Iskander family. This pain is a punishment that I will carry for the rest of my life. I urge you to take this suffering into consideration while deciding the extent of punishment to be imposed on me in this case.”

According to her lawyers, probation should be the only penalty for her actions.

Grossman expressed his deep sympathy towards Nancy and Karim Iskander, the parents of the boys. He acknowledged the unbearable pain they must be going through and couldn’t imagine how difficult it must be for them. While he himself would carry the pain of this tragedy for the rest of his life, he couldn’t fathom the grief that the boys’ parents must be experiencing every passing minute.

According to the Daily Mail, the socialite had sent a strange letter to the Iskanders expressing her regret over the tragedy. In the letter, she stated that she would have willingly crashed her car into a tree if she had the opportunity to do so, just to avoid the heartbreaking incident.

Nancy Iskander, the mother of the boy, refuted the socialite’s claims and stated that she had treated her family with hostility, considering them as “the biggest enemy in the world.” Furthermore, she had made multiple attempts to postpone the sentencing.

Iskander revealed that the socialite employed several tactics, such as creating conflicts of interest, to postpone the hearing that was initially set for April 10.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Ms Iskander expressed her frustration with the legal system and Ms Grossman. According to her, every attempt to move forward and take the next step is met with resistance and drawn-out legal battles for justice.

“The situation is nothing short of horrific. What’s more disturbing is the fact that she hasn’t shown any remorse or mercy towards me. Despite having numerous opportunities to do so, she didn’t plead guilty or try to shorten the legal proceedings. This meant that I had to go through the trauma of being taken back to the courtroom repeatedly.”

โ€œShe had several chances to exhibit mercy towards my family, but she chose not to. Instead of showing any kindness, she harbored hatred towards us, treating us as if we were her greatest enemies in the world.โ€
