Anthony Fauci, the former chief medical adviser to President Biden, is set to testify before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic on June 3. This will be his first appearance before a congressional panel since he left government work at the end of 2022.
During the closed-door interviews, the discussions primarily centered around gain-of-function research, potential violations of federal records, conflicts of interest, and the ambiguities surrounding pandemic guidance. Throughout the duration of the interviews, Fauci was accompanied by two attorneys.
“These statements raise serious questions that deserve public scrutiny as they are the face of America’s public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
When contacted by The Hill, Ranking Member Raul Ruiz (D-Calif.) expressed his appreciation for “Dr. Fauci’s willingness to testify voluntarily in June, allowing the American public to assess the outcomes of the Majority’s excessive fishing expedition.”
During the interviews, lawmakers have only shared what they were able to gather from the members present. According to them, the government scientists offered valuable insights and explanations. However, Fauci, in particular, mentioned multiple times that he couldn’t recall specific details about the pandemic.
Wenstrup stated that a transcript of the meeting would be available prior to the June hearing.
