Virginia – Wednesday afternoon, Virginia State Police (VSP) swiftly responded to a fatal three-car collision on Route 3 in King George County.
Around 3:47 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, state police rushed to the scene of a three-car collision on Route 3 near Chummy Lane in King George County. Tragically, one driver lost their life as a result of the crash.
As per police reports, 73-year-old Michael Arthur McMahan of Westmoreland County was behind the wheel of a 2016 Jeep Cherokee traveling east on Route 3. Tragically, McMahan crossed the center line into oncoming westbound traffic, colliding with a trash truck. The collision caused the Jeep to overturn and subsequently strike a tractor-trailer.
McMahan succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident, despite wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Fortunately, reports indicate that the other drivers involved in the incident did not sustain any injuries.
This crash is still under investigation by state police.
