President Biden’s reelection campaign playfully teased former President Trump for spending his day off from court on the golf course.
According to a statement from the Biden campaign spokesperson, Ammar Moussa, it was discovered that Trump was golfing instead of campaigning. Moussa referred to a CNN report that stated Trump was at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
Moussa added that if a campaign solely focuses on seeking revenge and retribution for oneself without making any effort to improve the lives of Americans, it’s understandable that there would be no inclination to engage with voters directly.
The Biden campaign issued a statement on Wednesday evening, prior to the reports of Trump golfing. The subject line of the statement was “Statement on Trump’s Campaign Events Today,” and it stated that Trump had no campaign events.
Trump has often expressed his frustration with the hush money trial, among the numerous legal battles he is currently facing. He believes that this trial is specifically intended to prevent him from actively participating in the campaign trail.
On Thursday, Trump finds himself back in court for his trial in New York regarding hush money. It is important to note that this trial does not take place on Wednesdays. The charges against the former president involve 34 counts of falsifying business records. These charges are related to reimbursements made to his former fixer, Michael Cohen, for a payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The purpose of this payment was to ensure her silence regarding an alleged affair she had with Trump a decade prior.
Democrats are optimistic that Biden’s ability to hit the campaign trail while Trump is tied up in a courtroom in New York will give his reelection efforts a boost. This week, Biden made trips to Florida and New York, and last week he visited Pennsylvania to campaign.
