A recent poll has revealed that over 50% of Joe Biden’s supporters are driven to vote for the president mainly to prevent Donald Trump from returning to the White House.
According to a recent CBS/YouGov poll, an increasing number of Democratic incumbent voters, now at 54%, are supporting Biden primarily because of their opposition to Trump. This is a notable increase from the 47% recorded in a similar survey conducted in March, which was before the presumptive Republican nominee was found guilty of business fraud by a New York jury.
In March, 31% of Biden voters cited their liking for the president as the reason for their support. However, this figure has dropped to 27%. Meanwhile, 19% of them are supporting Biden simply because he is the Democratic nominee for president.
As of late, the Biden campaign has been stepping up its efforts to directly attack Trump by highlighting his felony conviction and past controversies. The latest poll reflects this aggressive approach, as Biden has recently referred to his predecessor as “reckless and dangerous.” Trump’s claims that his New York trial was rigged and his continuous complaints about his 2020 election loss have only fueled Biden’s criticism.
According to a recent poll conducted by CBS, the results of the US presidential election are still uncertain, with both Biden and Trump nearly tied both nationally and in key swing states. The poll shows that Trump has secured 50% of support from likely voters, while Biden is not far behind with 49%. However, the numbers are slightly different in battleground states, where Biden has the lead with 50% of likely voters’ support, while Trump has 49%.
In the past few months, most polls have shown Trump leading Biden. However, there are indications of a slight shift in favor of the president after his predecessor’s conviction on felony charges. Trump himself is facing three separate felony trials, one for withholding classified documents and two for attempting to undermine the 2020 election. His sentencing for the New York case is tentatively set for July 11th.
According to a recent CBS poll, a majority of likely voters, 55%, don’t consider Trump’s conviction as a determining factor in their decision for the upcoming presidential election. Only 28% of voters believe it will have a major impact on their choice. Despite a spike in fundraising from his supporters following the trial, the poll suggests that just a mere 14% of his voters are backing him solely because of his conviction. The majority of his supporters believe that it’s not a significant factor in their decision-making process.
According to the poll, 80% of Trump supporters hold the mistaken belief that the Biden administration was responsible for charging the former president, when in fact it was local prosecutors.
According to the poll, the main motivating factors for voters include the state of the US economy, inflation, the health of democracy, and crime.
