Bill Barr alleges that Donald Trump frequently made suggestions about executing his political rivals during intense moments of his four-year tenure in the White House.
Former White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin revealed on The View in December that President Trump had once demanded the execution of a staff member for leaking a story about his visit to a bunker during the Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020.
During a recent interview on CNN, former Trump administration attorney general Mr. Barr was questioned about the allegations.
Mr. Barr recalled his strong displeasure regarding that particular incident.
“I don’t recall him explicitly saying ‘executing,’ but I wouldn’t deny it either. The president had a tendency to lose his temper and make such remarks. However, I doubt he would have taken any action to follow through on those words.”
Kaitlan Collins from CNN inquired if the former president had made similar extreme statements on other occasions throughout his presidency.
Mr. Barr dismissed the comments, explaining that people often took Mr. Trump too literally. However, he did acknowledge that the president would occasionally make such statements.
According to Mr. Barr, there were instances when he would make similar remarks as a way to vent his frustrations. However, it is important to understand that these comments should not be taken literally every time he made them. Mr. Barr also emphasized that ultimately, these statements were not acted upon and it was possible to reason with him.
According to the speaker, the concern surrounding President Trump does not revolve around him becoming an autocrat or engaging in such actions.
“After working closely with him and witnessing his behavior firsthand, I highly doubt he would resort to murdering political opponents or engaging in such extreme actions.”
The Trump campaign has been approached by The Independent for comment regarding Mr. Barr’s remarks.
In September, there was a significant controversy when Mr. Trump made a statement suggesting the execution of Mark Milley, the outgoing head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He accused Milley of committing treason, which caused a widespread outcry.
“Mark Milley, who was responsible for the disastrous execution of the withdrawal from Afghanistan, causing the loss of numerous lives, abandoning hundreds of American citizens, and surrendering billions of dollars worth of top-notch military equipment, is set to depart from the military next week,” stated Mr. Trump on Truth Social.
“This is going to be a moment of celebration for all citizens of the USA!” he exclaimed. “It turns out that this individual has proven to be a disastrous advocate of woke ideologies. According to reports from the Fake News, he was allegedly collaborating with China, providing them with advanced insight into the thoughts of the President of the United States. Such an act is so appalling that in the past, death would have been the punishment!”
General Milley explained that he had to exercise caution in response to the menacing remarks.
As he campaigns to reclaim the White House in November, Mr. Trump has significantly increased his use of aggressive language.
The former president has faced criticism for using dehumanizing language towards migrants, comparing himself to the notorious Chicago mobster Al Capone, and sharing disturbing memes online. One of these memes depicted President Joe Biden being bound and gagged on the back of a MAGA pickup truck.
In a surprising turn of events, Mr. Barr, despite expressing his concerns about Mr. Trump on multiple occasions, has announced his intention to vote for him once again in the upcoming election.
During a recent interview with Fox News, he expressed his belief that in a situation where there are two unfavorable options, it is his responsibility to select the individual who would cause the least damage to the country.
“And personally, I am inclined to vote for the Republican ticket and support their cause. In my opinion, the true threat to our country and democracy lies in the progressive agenda.”
In my opinion, while Trump’s actions can be seen as risky, I believe that if the Biden administration continues, it would be detrimental to the nation and could be considered national suicide.
In response to the endorsement, Mr. Trump couldn’t resist but to respond with a harsh and mocking post directed towards Mr. Barr on his Truth Social platform.
In a surprising turn of events, former Attorney General Bill Barr, who was criticized by many for not thoroughly investigating voter fraud in our country, has now endorsed me for President. Despite my previous remarks calling him “weak, slow moving, lethargic, gutless, and lazy” (as reported by the New York Post), Barr has chosen to support my candidacy.
“I truly appreciate Bill’s wholehearted endorsement, so I have decided to remove the word ‘lethargic’ from my previous statement. Thank you, Bill. Let’s make America great again in 2024!”
