Last week, an Upper West Side apartment complex was left in a frenzy due to a 5-foot long boa constrictor.
According to the New York Police Department, a snake was spotted on Wednesday morning as it crawled up an exterior gate at a Manhattan complex. The reptile was attempting to gain access to a basement apartment, as reported by USA Today.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered the serpent and promptly contacted the Emergency Services Unit. The ESU arrived at the location and safely contained the snake before transporting it to the Manhattan facility of the Animal Care Centers of NYC, according to the police department’s statement.
According to a spokesperson from ACC, the boa was taken down from a fence located in the upper west side of Manhattan. It is noteworthy that boa constrictors are not allowed to be kept as pets in New York City.
According to the ACC, they have relocated the snake to a foster guardian located outside of the city.
