A new player has joined the battle in the ongoing competition for affordable fast food options.
Fast food giants McDonald’s and Wendy’s are in a race to win back customers with affordable deals, following a decline in consumer interest due to high prices. According to Bloomberg, McDonald’s has announced its plan to introduce a $5 meal deal as a strategy to attract more buyers, after experiencing low foot traffic in the first quarter.
Burger King, being one of Ronald McDonald’s major rivals, has made a strategic move. As per a confidential memo examined by Bloomberg, BK intends to introduce its own $5 meal deal. Interestingly, they plan to do so before McDonald’s upcoming campaign, which is rumored to be scheduled for late June.
Burger King is ramping up its value promotions after dominating the industry in terms of attracting value-conscious customers for three consecutive quarters. The company has reintroduced its popular $5 Your Way Meal, which was previously agreed upon with its franchisees in April, according to a statement provided to USA TODAY.
Burger King has recently introduced a new deal called the $5 Your Way Meal. This value meal offers customers a choice between three different sandwiches, alongside chicken nuggets, fries, and a drink. Unlike McDonald’s, where similar promotions typically last for four weeks, Burger King plans to keep the $5 Your Way Meal available for several months. This information was confirmed by Burger King in an email to USA TODAY.
Burger King’s U.S. and Canada President, Tom Curtis, sent a memo confirming their determination to move forward with their own plans of launching a $5 value meal, regardless of their competitors’ intentions. As reported by Bloomberg, the memo stated, “We are moving full speed ahead with our own plans to launch our own $5 value meal before they do โ and run it for several months.” Burger King also confirmed this statement with USA TODAY.

Fast food deals aplenty
Fast food and fast-casual chains are increasingly using value meals, promotions, and freebies to attract customers and boost sales. These strategies have become critical in the competitive landscape as brands strive to capture customer attention and drive revenue.
Wendy’s has just unveiled an exciting offer – a $3 breakfast combo that is sure to delight morning food enthusiasts. This combo includes a delicious English muffin sandwich filled with egg, cheese, and your choice of bacon or sausage. As if that weren’t enough, it also comes with a side of perfectly seasoned potatoes. And that’s not all! Wendy’s continues to treat its customers with enticing deals, such as weekly free chicken nuggets through their app. Plus, they occasionally roll out limited-time promotions, like the recent offer of a mouthwatering Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger for just one cent on National Hamburger Day.
In addition to the highly anticipated $5 meal, McDonald’s recently rolled out a special promotion where they offered free nuggets. This is just one example of the many exclusive deals available through their mobile app, which aims to incentivize users to create a rewards account and take advantage of a variety of discounts and offers.
Burger King speeds up the launch of its $5 value meal in order to outshine the upcoming deal from McDonald’s.
