Donald Trump was photographed Friday morning at his youngest son Barron’s graduation in West Palm Beach, Florida, standing close to his wife Melania in the front row of bleachers at Oxbridge Academy’s football field.
The elder Trump reportedly arrived barely two minutes before the private commencement began, exiting a vehicle and entering the football field’s metal stands via a strongly secured entrance.
The Daily Mail reported that Oxbridge parents, loved ones, and soon-to-be graduates applauded Trump as he wore a dark suit, white dress shirt, and blue tie. Photographs showed two Secret Service agents, dressed in suits and sunglasses, standing behind Trump. Photographs also showed Melania’s father, Viktor Knavs, in attendance beside his daughter.
The court granted Trump permission to skip Friday’s hush-money trial in New York City so he could attend. Trump announced his visit via his social media channel, Truth Social, just before his arrival.
“Going to Barron’s high school graduation,” were his words. “Excellent learner and nice child! “Extremely exciting!!! DJT!”
Photographs show Barron, who stands 6-foot-7, receiving his diploma on stage, towering over the school officials in charge of the ceremony. He wore a blue gown and tie, and a scarlet stole was thrown over his shoulders.
The commencement was by invitation only, with the schoolโwhich charges a whopping $41,500 in tuition per yearโasking journalists and non-graduating students to avoid the ceremony earlier this week.
It’s unlikely that Trump will celebrate late Friday eveningโor even into the afternoonโwith his son. Instead, he must take a flight to St. Paul, Minnesota, where he has a scheduled speech at a 5 p.m. fundraising event. With a four-hour travel time from South Florida to the Twin Cities on commercial airlines and a one-hour time difference, Trump must be airborne by 2 p.m. at the latest if he wants to arrive on time for dinner.
It is unknown whether Trump attended any post-graduation ceremonies for Barron.
Barron’s graduation marked Melania’s first public appearance with her husband since his trial exposed information about his alleged one-night fling with Stormy Daniels, which occurred during their first year of marriage. Images from the event showed her mostly solemn, as she usually does, but also showing signs of laughter and cheering.
Barron was one of 116 seniors who graduated on Friday. Last year, the school sent students to some of the nation’s most elite universities, including Northwestern, UCLA, Boston University, Cornell, and Vanderbilt.
Barron’s future plans are unknown, but his family has stated that he will attend college. Barron’s potential colleges include the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, which his father and half-siblings attended, as well as New York University, located just down the street from his childhood residence atop Trump Tower in Manhattan.
Donald Trump provided the sole recent hint concerning Barron’s next steps. Last week, he stated that Barron is exploring new college options and that his son is interested in politics.
“Right now, he’s doing a great job,” Trump stated at Mar-a-Lago last week, according to Newsweek. “He has high marks. He’ll be heading to college soon. “And we’re looking at certain colleges that have changed since two months ago.”
